It’s not the destination, it’s the journey. We’re not there yet but soon. We love opening EatsPlace in DC but the best part is meeting everyone here in this city. We’ve heard back from so many chefs about the hassle of opening their own space, even if it was just a one night pop-up. It was hard to identify and coordinate with the venue. Marketing and other logistics were their own full time jobs. It started to make them feel like it wasn’t worth the trouble. And the one theme that came up all the time: they wished they could have spent much more time cooking. That’s what we’re here to do: deal with the red tape so chefs can focus on the food!
^^Filled with wonks and sometimes with wonky views, we still love our city!^^
Special message to Kickstarter friends: even through this project didn’t get funded through KS, that was never the point. Our goal is to build a community through food by opening a food incubator, jump start local food businesses, and use food as a culture catalyst. Oh yes and to have a bit of fun along the way and not take things too seriously. And you guys totally got that and helped us get started. Not with your funds, but with your fun energy and belief in a little idea that could, and look how far we’ve come! EatsPlace is happening! Thanks to you. Please keep following the adventure on my blogs, EatsPlace and Babas Cooking School.
^^Everything is better with a cherry on top, especially construction!^^
